Preview 2020

When FLUSS was founded in 1989, the association saw itself as representing the interests of artistic photography, which was then marginalized. Photographic practice has meanwhile found its way into all art forms and so FLUSS also changed its name to an initiative for photo and media art in the early 2000s. Today, a further crossing of borders to other areas of knowledge seems appropriate, since the concept of the medial has changed fundamentally.

The focus of the year will take this complex of issues into account under the title self-regulating systems with an exhibition and the programming of the Weinviertel Photo Weeks 2020. The Global Suburbia series launched last year will be continued with the exhibition Zurücklassen/ Leave Behind – Aufgreifen/Pick Up – Aneignen/Appropriate. A cooperation with the Medienwerkstatt Wien is also devoted to gender issues with the leading figure Ulrike Ottinger. The fem.art 2.0 exhibition is an examination of the current feminist present.

Workshops, discussions and performances and school / youth projects are further components of this year's FLUSS program.
